Confession: I have absolutely no chill when it comes to books and pretty much buy all of them. Yup. I pretty much act as if I am made of money. #IBuyBooksInsteadofOwningACar. Having said this I do have 582 (no exaggeration I just looked at Goodreads) books on my TBR pile. I still have books on my wishlist. These are mostly books that having a physical copy is important. I pretty much read exclusively on my Kindle. Because China.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
by J.K. Rowling
“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”
Ermahgerd, Harry Potter! I bought the first book when I was in the US this summer and it was amazing. It was almost like having a brand new story. The illustrations are gorgeous.
My Name Is Jason. Mine Too.: Our Story. Our Way.
By Jason Reynolds, Jason Griffin
This book just looks like fun and because there is an art aspect to it is not something that I would be happy with on the Kindle. It is a concept book of poetry and art by two collage roommates.
Home of the Brave
By Katherine Applegate
“Today, tomorrow, sooner or later, you will meet someone who is lost, just as you yourself have been lost, and as you will be lost again someday. And when that happens, it is your duty to say "I've been lost, too. Let me help you find your way home.”
I have had good luck with Katherince Applegate. I do however have an issue with the person who wrote the blurb of this book. "Kek comes from Africa." Treating Africa as if it is one homogenous place make me crazy. Stop doing it! On the other hand the cover is beautiful and I am intrigued.
The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind: Creating Currents of Electricity and Hope
By William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer
“I went to sleep dreaming of Malawi, and all the things made possible when your dreams are powered by your heart.”
I am really intrigued by this book if for no other reason then because the publishers were smart enough to publish it with three different reading levels. Yay for inclusivity!
by Amy Poehler
“However, if you do start crying in an argument and someone asks why, you can always say, 'I'm just crying because of how wrong you are.'”
Yes, I know that the rest of the world has already read this book. And watched Parks and Recreation. I am getting to it, okay?!
An Edible History of Humanity
“Spices were certainly regarded as antidotes to earthly squalor in another, more mystical sense. They were thought to be splinters of paradise that had found their way into the ordinary world.”
I like books that have food in them, okay?
Creative Lettering and Beyond: Inspiring tips, techniques, and ideas for hand lettering your way to beautiful works of art

This isn't at all universal but I have been trying to journal (fine, "art journal") and I am finding the my complete incompetence when it comes to anything artistic. My theory is that books are the answer to everything.
